Guide: Adding a Device to the Hik-Connect App

The Hik-Connect App allows you to monitor and manage your Hikvision devices remotely, including NVRs, DVRs, and IP cameras. Follow this step-by-step guide to add your device to the Hik-Connect app.


Step 1: Prepare Your Device

  1. Ensure Your Device Supports Hik-Connect:

    • Verify that your NVR, DVR, or IP camera is compatible with the Hik-Connect platform.
  2. Enable Platform Access on the Device:

    • Log in to your device via its interface or web browser.
    • Navigate to Configuration > Network > Advanced Settings > Platform Access.
    • Tick the checkbox for Enable Platform Access.
    • Log in with your Hik-Connect credentials or create a new account if prompted.
    • Set a Verification Code (e.g., a combination of letters and numbers). This code is required for linking the device to the app.
    • Ensure the status says Online. If it shows Offline, check your network connection and DNS settings (use 8.8.8.8 for DNS if needed).

Step 2: Install and Set Up the Hik-Connect App

  1. Download the App:

    • For iOS: Visit the App Store.
    • For Android: Visit the Google Play Store.
    • Search for and download Hik-Connect.
  2. Create or Log in to Your Hik-Connect Account:

    • Open the app and either:
      • Log in with an existing account.
      • Create a new account by following the registration prompts.

Step 3: Add Your Device

  1. Open the App:

    • Launch the Hik-Connect app and log in to your account.
  2. Tap the Add Device Button:

    • On the home screen, tap the + icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose a Method to Add the Device:

    • Scan QR Code:
      • Go to your NVR/DVR or camera interface.
      • Display the QR code under Platform Access.
      • Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code.
    • Manually Enter the Serial Number:
      • Select Manual Entry and type the device’s serial number (found on the device label or in the System Information menu).
  4. Enter the Verification Code:

    • Input the Verification Code you set during platform access configuration.
  5. Complete the Setup:

    • The app will verify and add the device. Once completed, it will appear in your device list.

Step 4: Configure Notifications (Optional)

  1. Enable Alarm Notifications:
    • In the Hik-Connect app, select the added device.
    • Go to Device Settings > Notification Settings.
    • Enable Alarm Notifications to receive alerts for motion detection, intrusion, or other events.

Step 5: Test the Connection

  1. View Live Feeds:

    • Open the app and select your device to view the live feed from connected cameras.
  2. Check Playback (if supported):

    • Navigate to Playback in the app to review recorded footage.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Device Not Found:

    • Ensure the device’s Platform Access is enabled and the status is Online.
    • Confirm that the serial number or QR code is entered correctly.
  • Offline Status:

    • Check your network connection.
    • Ensure the NVR/DVR or camera is connected to the internet and configured with correct network settings.
  • Verification Code Incorrect:

    • Double-check the verification code set in the device’s Platform Access menu.
